Problem:
International Nickel Company's Copper Cliff plant in Ontario, Canada wanted to recover and upgrade a small amount of low-grade iron ore found in their nickel pre-concentrate.
Solution:
The strongest magnetic fraction of the pyrrhotite pre-concentrate was removed using Eriez
Wet Drum Separators.
Regrinding, flotation and additional wet drum separation, stripped the magnetite from the pyrrhotite. Those extra steps proved to be the best way to remove residual non-magnetics. The final magnetite fines contained 68 percent iron and were pelletized and sintered for marketing.
